Meet Designer Laura Hawk
Meet Designer, Laura Quinn Hawk
When it came time to think about the interior, Bill had a vision beyond the typical industrial-style, utilitarian brewery. He wanted things to be comfortable, warm, and inviting. He wanted it to feel like home. That’s where Laura Hawk of LCH Interiors comes in. Laura is a lifelong friend of Bill and Karen’s daughters, and her design expertise coupled with her personal experiences with the family make her the perfect designer to bring Bridge’s End to life.
Laura founded LCH Interiors in 2007 in Green Bay, Wisconsin where she lived with her husband, former Ohio State Buckeyes and Green Bay Packers linebacker A.J. Hawk. Early in her career, Laura apprenticed with Kathleen and Tommy Clements of Clements Design in Los Angeles, allowing her to learn from “the two best in the business.” As her business and her family grew, Laura expanded LCH Interiors to Columbus where she now lives with her husband and their four children. Laura works on projects across the country and has designed some very special spaces throughout her career.
While LCH Interiors specializes in residential design, Laura’s relationship with the family made her a natural fit for the project, allowing her to create a home-like space scaled to the needs of a brewery and restaurant. It is important to Laura that the space feel not just like any home but uniquely a place Bill and Karen would call home. One of her many special touches includes repurposing a chandelier Bill had hoarded from their old house. Just when Karen thought it had seen its last ceiling, Laura was there with the interior designer’s version of “hold my beer.” Look for that chandelier in our entryway when we (finally!) open for business.
Laura has been invaluable in navigating all the challenges brought on by designing a commercial space. She’s been hard at work since the idea for Bridge’s End was hatched, attending meetings with Design Collective via Zoom and ensuring her many home-like touches in the space coexist with building codes, regulations, and ADA compliance. Laura works closely with her assistant, Katie Rothaar, and their vision helped mold a layout that facilitates movement, collaboration, and accessibility. In the end, Laura brought to life a space free from pretense, a space with the same feeling of walking into the Schirmer home. We can’t wait for you to see it – she nailed it!
This may be Laura’s first brewery design, but it’s her fresh take on the concept that is poised to make the design of Bridge’s End feel like the new standard. Most importantly, Laura’s interior design has helped create a space based on our mutual beliefs: a good brewery should bring people together and make them want to stay awhile. Soon, you’ll be able to enjoy the comfort of Bridge’s End year-round with spaces to suit all seasons. Cheers to Laura and LCH Interiors!
Favorite Piece in the Brewery:
The custom built-in banquette complete with brass mesh inlays in white oak, made in collaboration with Kandel Designs. Or, since a designer can’t ever have just one favorite, the eighteenth-century hostess stand that Laura hand-curated this summer.
About her assistant Katie Rothaar: Katie started with Laura in 2023 and worked part-time while finishing design school at Miami University before joining LCH Interiors full-time after she graduated that May. She has been an asset to the business, multi-tasking with ease, keeping projects on schedule, and digitally rendering projects to help clients envision their space and make decisions.
Favorite Project: Laura admits it is impossible to pick a favorite project because they are all so different. LCH Interiors prides itself in not committing to one style of design, instead figuring out what suits their clients best and working with what they love. One particular client has tapped LCH Interiors to work on many of their homes across the country, and Laura says she loves the unwavering trust in her design work, allowing a larger vision to “flow freely through the projects, creating really beautiful and unique places.”
